Who am I and Why?

I am Almino T. Malaza Jr., I am currently working as a web designer with Screentext Software Designs, Inc. I also do some freelance work on the side.

Apostasy, is defined as someone who is disloyal or someone who has renounced his/her religion. I am renouncing my belief in Christ and Christianity, there I have said it. I used to be a Christian, well almost all my life, but the irony is the most wonderful thing that my parents gave to me was a Christian education I just realized it now; and I am very much grateful, for if not I would not have found what I have been seeking. I went through a Protestant (Presbyterian) school since nursery until high school (but I got kicked out on my last year). And yes I do have a lot of background on the Protestant bible, but through the years I have struggled with myself on a lot of issues on the Bible, and the Christian religion as a whole. These days there are lots of versions of Christianity, and yet we also have found out that there were others too during the early years of Christianity, but this is a story which I will tell later.

Why renounce Christianity? What made me become an apostate of Christianity comes with a lot of factors.

First, and what really started it all was Nineveh, remember the kingdom in which Jonah was sent to preach to tell them to repent and pray to one G-d only! Well, if you don’t here is a reminder, Nineveh was a neighboring kingdom of ancient Israel, and yes this is not a Jewish kingdom but a gentile kingdom, Jonah was sent there to tell them that they need to repent, turn from their wicked ways and pray to G-d, because G-d will destroy them if they would not. And they were wise enough to do so. I read this when I was nine(around 1980), this was actually taught in school and every time we end a lesson we always reflect it back to Jesus as in how he died for our sins and how he suffered on the cross, and how we are saved from his death and resurrection, and that we should be thankful for the Jews for having killed Jesus because it was the prophecy anyway and if not, the prophecy would not have been fulfilled, thus we would not have or will never be saved, and then we also end up again praying to G-d through Jesus that the Jews might see and receive Jesus as their personal lord and savior. And yes that is how the indoctrination was and is still in many Christian institutions.

My question at that time was why and what we need Jesus for when we can just talk directly to G-d Himself and ask for forgiveness? But my wonderful teacher always end up saying that was before when Jesus was not around but it was Jesus who fulfilled the prophecy and that was it. I was reminded of the Jonah story when I happen to read across it on messiahtruth.yuku.com; that G-d can forgive much like as what Jesus can do. I was nine then and who was I to ask the question to my teachers or debate them on this matter. So I let it go, and yes we ended up being born again I think it was around September or October of 1980 when the born again story of life started.

Okay so what’s wrong with the above story? If you remember this ‘G-d is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow’; we were taught, that is the nature of G-d He is constant and does not change. So logically speaking if G-d can save man before why can he not save me if I or any of us do not go through Jesus?

Second, the Bible; we were using a protestant bible different from the Roman Catholic bible in the number of books. My question was; are we really using the right bible version. If we see the Roman Catholic Church as a false Christian church and yet we are actually using almost all of or sharing the same New Testament books, why are we using these books? And I would just get an answer that the bible was written by men inspired by G-d, and the version of our New Testament have been screened of anything that does not coincide or agree with the Old Testament, if this book is against the old testament then it is false and must not be doctrine. But you see there is already a conflict within the New Testament; even within it, of which I will touch in later issues. But here is another; Chronicles is in conflict with the gospel’s list of kings or the lineage Jesus.

Third, there is no hell. When I was told of this I asked myself wooohhhh!!! Hold on there a minute what no hell? Where will the bad people go? Simply put it G-d created heaven and earth; and yes you can find this in Genesis. Hell is actually Hades from the Greek mythology. I will talk about this in another issue. And bad people will simply cease to exist and if there is such a place called hell I think you can find this in Daniel, and it is not the hell that we know of; others say it is a place where there is eternal condemnation.

Lastly, there is no devil or demons that as Christians know of, Satan or HaSatan in the original Bible is an angel that was or were tasked to test us, while the Christians think of Satan as someone who rebelled against G-d and now has his own dominion, that the first coup d'état, was in heaven.

Throughout my younger days I was and so were my classmates taught that the real fundamental difference between Christians and Jews is that they do not accept Jesus as the savior and of course some other Jewish customs and traditions along with it too. But not no hell and devil/demon, the last two reasons above were the real breakers, this somehow proved to me that Christianity is wrong, and is a pagan religion.

So I will end this with a verse from Deuteronomy.

Hear O Israel, the Lord our G-d, the Lord G-d is One.
